Nearly a thousand people attended a rally in Kitamaat Village to oppose Enbridge’s planned $5.5-billion pipeline project aimed at shipping tar sands product overseas via a marine export terminal in Kitimat.

The event included a variety of noteworthy speakers, including stand-up paddler Norm Hann, who recently paddled (standing up!) along the proposed Inside Passage tanker route, marine biologist Dr. Riki Ott, who has aided clean-up efforts in both the Exxon Valdez and Gulf oil spills, and famed environmentalist Dr. David Suzuki.
