Fishermen tour BC coast to talk about fishing and marine planning

Oct 5th to 9th, 2009.  Fishermen met in four coastal communities: Prince Rupert, Skidigate Campbell River and Steveston, to talk about fishing and marine planning.

Three fishermen gave presentations highlighting their own experiences in marine planning processes:

The message was very clear: fishermen need to get involved in marine planning to ensure viable sustainable fisheries remain on this coast.

Other sectors are after large areas in the marine environment, fishermen need to protect access for their fisheries.
