Panelists:
John Calvert
John Calvert is an associate professor at Simon Fraser University where he teachers public policy. He has a PhD from the London School of Economics in political science and an MA from the University of Western Ontario. He is the author of three books on Canadian public policy and economic issues including his most recent, Liquid Gold, Energy Privatization in British Columbia . John is a founding Director with the BC Citizens for Public Power .
Gwenne Farrell
Gwenne Farrell is a Vice-President with the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union, Local 378 (COPE 378) and is responsible for the BC Hydro Groups, including Accenture Business Services, British Columbia Transmission Corporation, and Columbia Hydro Constructors. She is a Senior Financial Analyst with BC Hydro. Gwenne is a member on the Economic and Energy Policy Committee of the BC NDP and on the Board of Directors for the BC Citizens for Public Power.
Shane Simpson
Shane Simpson is the MLA for Vancouver-Hastings and serves as the NDP's Critic for the Environment. Shane recently hosted a public forum on Privatizing our Rivers, where speakers addressed the environmental, social and economic impact of the Province's decision to issue licenses to private Corporations to construct hydro projects on 535 BC rivers.
